Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have decided to scrap all fixtures for this season.
Although many pubs are re-opening there are still too many concerns and problems for us to run a league. Like the average age of our players, the doubts of many pub landlords, the required changes to the playing rules and implementing social distancing.
Sorry about that, let's just look forward to 2021 and maybe we can organise the odd local friendly to keep our hands in.
Simon and the committee.
All Fixtures Postponed
It saddens me that, as the new chairman, my first action is to postpone all fixtures as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. I am hopeful that we will be able to reinstate all, or some, of the fixtures once the restrictions are lifted.
Please stay safe and healthy during this challenging time.
All fixtures for the 2020 season are now live on the web site. League matches commence on Wednesday May 6th preceded by two open practice sessions on April 22nd and 29th.
Visit the fixtures page for full details.
Same Faces - New Names. Again!
There's a sense of deja vu about this. Two years ago we posted similar news when Phil and John's teams had to move from the White Horse to new venues with new team names. Now they're on the move again after the Millers Arms stopped supporting Petanque. Hopefully both teams can stay put for a while!
A new committee has been appointed for the upcoming 2020 season consisting of Simon Black as Chairman, Graham Muchinock as Treasurer and Giles Beaumont who takes on the Secretary role.
Steve Holton has agreed to continue to provide web and social media support.
2020 AGM Minutes
Minutes of the 2020 Annual General Meeting held on February 19th are now available to view from the link on the Information page.
For individual reasons, both Steve and Brenda have decided to step down from the committee.
A new Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Webmaster/Social Media Manager must therefore be elected at this year's Annual General Meeting to be held at the Anchor pub in Little Paxton on Wednesday February 19th 2020. Some roles can be combined as they are currently.
If you are a league member and would like to volunteer or nominate league players you think would be good for the roles, please contact us before the end of January.
All Donations Welcome
We recently donated £100 to the St Neots Food Bank on behalf of Past Players Memorial Trophy winners, the Bell at Great Paxton. Here is their thank you message:
"Thank you very much for your generous cheque of £100.00 which you brought in to the warehouse last week. Please pass on our grateful thanks to your members for their generosity.
This is most welcome, especially at this time of year as we are making up and distributing Christmas parcels to help those in need over the festive period.
Thank you for thinking of the Foodbank and for your support in this way.
